COMPLETED PROJECTS OF WWW UNITED
1. The
School Chests Program.
A large amount of School Chests, filled with basic school
supplies, were donated by us and sent to Afghanistan in 2003. Many people
donated funds, and many others donated the actual school supplies for the School
Chests. For instance, 4 elementary schools in Texas collected supplies from any
families who wished to donate. One very special elementary school collected
their donation penny by penny in a wishing well, and from this, they later
donated $500.00 to us. Every penny went to buy more school supplies. Children
literally are helping children. If the littlest ones can do it, surely the
adults can do this as well.
We also worked with many other people to finish the school chests drive,
especially one young Senior in high school who has been working as a leading
volunteer for a big part of his life. Jonathan Wang is definitely an inspiration
to all of us.
Our school chests became part of the shipment sent by The Red Cross. Imagine
how happy these children were with their paper, pencils, crayons, jump ropes,
chalk, rulers, and much more. For most, it would have been their first time to
use a crayon and many of the other supplies. What a blessed event.
Also, a university alumni association and a college basketball team assisted in
packing these in special chests while two TV stations recorded the event. It was
fantastic seeing all the volunteers working together on the 5 o’clock news in
Houston, showing the world we may not be The Ugly American image they often hear
about.
2. The Delta Kappa Gamma Society Project
A Texas chapter of this honorary, international teacher/retired teacher society
decided to support our educational expansion by making Learning Boards and
supplying socks and chalk for their annual project in 2003.
3. The Relocation Project
Our new headquarters opened for business in 2003. The donated office space in a
bank building is spacious and pleasant, giving us room to expand operations in a
big way.
4. The Girl Scouts 90th Birthday Party
In 2003, the Girl Scouts
celebrated their 90th birthday with a large celebration attended by
10,000 girls. WWW United had a demonstration booth and passed out flyers,
showing the girls how to make more Learning Boards™ for needy students
worldwide.
