Our Mission is to create opportunities for people to acquire self-sustaining education, so that they and their nations can survive and then thrive.

This idea comes from our vision that by expanding basic education and higher education throughout the world, cultures can better understand one another and, therefore, better work together. In this way, individuals prosper, economies prosper, nations prosper, and the world moves away from conflict and destruction.

WWW UNITED forms global partnerships to unite worldwide wisdom to work toward the goals of leaving no child illiterate and no family without opportunity. We believe that as the families of a nation go, so goes the nation, and, by extension, the world.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN:

As the news media carried story after story about the devastation of the September 11, 2001 attacks on America, Josanna Smith of Houston, Texas could not help considering that the world would be much safer if countries could understand one another’s cultures and learn to appreciate their differences.

After the tragic events of September 11, Josanna Smith reacted quickly to organize and found a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization called Worldwide Wisdom United, Inc. (WWW United).  She began mobilizing a powerful group of people who believes as she does: that education is the most essential tool for people to access good, self-sustaining jobs, which, in turn, will allow their countries to enjoy sound economies. Her goals with this organization are also based on her knowledge from living overseas for 17 years and her belief that education is a crucial element for people to begin understanding each other’s cultures. Mrs. Smith believes that this combination of stronger economies, self-sustaining individuals, and global understanding will help put our world on the path to a more stable future with less destruction and wars.  Clearly, this is more and more important in these troubled times.

To this end, the main purpose of WWW United is to promote education, starting with literacy, for those in areas of the world where even simple learning instruments like paper and pencils can be scarce or non-existent. Numerous individuals and organizations like the Girl Scouts, churches, and school groups have volunteered and greatly assisted in the work of WWW United. For instance, they have helped to make thousands of Learning Boards™, (sturdy, hand-held chalkboards containing eraser and a supply of chalk). Once these boards are made, they are shipped into areas like Afghanistan, Iraq, Mexico, Vietnam, and Africa, with the pro bono aid of corporate partners and others.  Also, an international relief organization shipped many school supplies and chests into Afghanistan for WWW United, where their reception has been overwhelmingly positive. And, some in the State Department have also helped point us in the right direction. Plans are in place to bring these supplies into more than 20 other countries across the globe.

WWW United has come to be an innovative partnership of individuals, volunteer organizations, corporations, communities, schools, churches, and government.  It demonstrates what can be done when different groups within a society work together toward a common goal. It also proves Mrs. Smith’s theory to be correct when she stated, “It is crucial that we heed the wake-up call of 9/11. And, we civilians need not be bystanders; there are many, many things we can do to help, similar to what our citizens did during World War II.”

WWW UNITED is providing access to education for citizens of troubled nations, which moves the entire world toward global harmony.

WWW UNITED equals World Wide Wisdom United, which also equals a Win-Win-Win for our World.
